SUMMARY:Artist of the Month: The Poppy Project
DESCRIPTION:The Poppy Project is a community-based art initiative that invites people of all ages and skill levels to create and contribute poppy-inspired artwork for a special April exhibition at The Williamson Museum. \nPoppies have long symbolized remembrance\, resilience\, and hope. Through this project\, we’re exploring how those ideas connect to personal stories\, shared history\, and collective memory—told through art made by our community. \nParticipants can submit completed works to be considered for display or join us during one of our hands-on Art Project Days on March 17\, 18\, or 19 from 10am-12pm\, where we’ll provide guided poppy-themed art activities in a relaxed\, creative setting. No prior art experience required—just curiosity and a willingness to create. \nWe’ll also host a special poppy-themed Millennial History Club on March 26\, from 6pm-8pm\, blending crafting\, reflection\, and a little existential dread (as is tradition). \nSelected works will be featured together in our April exhibition\, celebrating the many ways our community remembers\, honors\, and creates—one poppy at a time. Art will be displayed April 1st – April 29th \nEmail or Mail your Submissions by March 20th\, 2026 to poppyproject@williamsonmuseum.org or 716 South Austin Ave\, Georgetown\, TX 78626

SUMMARY:Artist of the Month: David Cook Photography
DESCRIPTION:Artist of the Month: David Cook Photography\n \nA Photonaturalist’s Sense of Wonder \nMy work is inspired by my training as a Texas Master Naturalist\, a passion for the natural world\, and by Rachel Carson’s book The Sense of Wonder. A sense of wonder\, she wrote: “…so indestructible that it would last throughout life\, as an unfailing antidote against the boredom and disenchantments of later years\, the sterile preoccupation with things that are artificial\, the alienation from the sources of our strength” \nMy photography explores my own sense of wonder and hopefully  can inspire others to find and nurture their sense of wonder as well. \nI describe myself as a photonaturalist rather than a nature photographer because I do more than take photos of nature. I study the natural world and find art in the intersection between the light and the living world. \nI hope these images spark your sense of wonder with nature as well.

SUMMARY:Summer History Explorer's Camp: Media 1940s-Now
DESCRIPTION:Media 1940s-Now\nThis summer\, young explorers are invited to step behind the scenes of Williamson County’s Media through the Ages. Through hands-on activities and behind-the-lens experiments\, campers will uncover how hometown newspapers\, radio pioneers\, early TV studios\, and even textile-based communication shaped our community’s stories. From creating their own film scripts and designing bold headlines to experimenting with textile media such as printed fabrics\, and pattern-based storytelling\, participants will experience the many ways people have shared information across time. This dynamic\, creativity-sparking camp offers curious kids a fresh\, interactive path into both media history and the art of communication. \nThis camp is open for students entering 3rd-6th grade. \nCamp is 9:00am – 3:00pm. Aftercare is available from 8am-5pm for $80. Cost: $150 per week non-museum members; $120 per week for museum members. \n*Discounted rates for current members at $50 Family membership or above. Scholarships available for first time campers. \nRefund Policy: Full Refunds are available until June 12\, 2026. After that date it will be a 75% refund with a $50 administration fee per registration for processing refunds.
