DESCRIPTION:The Little Wild \nA Closer Look at The Insects We Overlook \nMika Geiger \nInsects are everywhere — underfoot\, in the air\, nestled in petals\, or tucked beneath leaves. Most of the time\, we pass them by without a second thought. Through macro photography\, I try to slow things down and take a closer look at these small creatures living big\, complex lives right alongside us. \nThis exhibit invites you into their world. You’ll meet masters of camouflage\, bugs with armor tough enough to withstand a car\, and tiny pollinators carrying out essential work with every landing. Each photograph offers a chance to learn more about these marvels: how they live\, adapt\, and quietly shape the ecosystems we depend on. Some are beautiful\, some are strange — and all of them have a story to tell. \nMika Geiger is a macro photographer based in Austin\, Texas\, who specializes in capturing the often-overlooked world of insects. Her work highlights the complexity and beauty of tiny creatures in their natural habitats. Through close-up photography and thoughtful storytelling\, Mika encourages viewers to slow down\, look closer\, and appreciate the important roles insects play in our ecosystems.

Baca Center\, Grand Room\, 301 W. Bagdad Ave.\, from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. Tina will bring to life the history of the Flats Neighborhood\, its residents and early businesses\, in New Town Round Rock.  Tina and her family have had a substantial impact on the history of Round Rock since the 1800s.

SUMMARY:Salon at Wildfire: Randy Michna on Williamson County Old Settler
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a conversation on the history of Williamson County’s Old Settlers Association with Randy Michna\, the Grounds Manager and Caretaker. OSA was organized for the sole purpose of gathering fragments of history and to perpetuate them for further generations. They offer educational programs to children throughout the year and are open daily for the public to see and enjoy a step back in history. \nRandy Michna is a sixth-generation Texan\, he and his family have been a part of the Old Settlers Association since it’s origination in 1904. \nSalons take place the second Wednesday of every month at 6:30pm in the backroom of Wildfire\, great food\, great drinks\, great conversation. As always\, seating is available on a first come first served basis and reservations are not required.

DESCRIPTION:Light Painting Workshop with Emily Robinson of LightWorx Studio \nThe Texas Photography Festival is excited to announce a special limited-edition Light Painting Workshop that will take place on Saturday August 23rd. \nThis workshop is presented by Emily Robinson of LightWorx Studio\, who was a Texas Photography Festival Featured Photographer in 2021. Emily creates amazing art using simple lighting tools and specialized lighting techniques to build images in camera without extensive post production editing. \nThis is a hands-on class\, where you will learn the camera settings and creative lighting techniques to add an other worldly feel to your images and is limited to 8 attendees to allow for specialized instruction.
