DESCRIPTION:November Salon: Rich Kostecke on\nAn Introduction to Hill Country Conservancy and the Wonders of Pecan Springs Karst Preserve\n\n																														 \nDiscover a unique natural landscape right here in Williamson County during the next Salon at Wildfire. Rich\, Director of Science and Stewardship for Hill Country Conservancy\, will introduce guests to the organization and its conservation work throughout Central Texas. The presentation will then turn its focus to Pecan Springs Karst Preserve in northern Williamson County\, exploring the preserve’s wildlife\, habitats\, natural features\, and many conservation values. \nRich has spent decades working in wildlife conservation\, ecology\, management\, research\, land protection\, conservation planning\, and partnerships. Much of his work has focused on birds and their habitats in Texas\, including species such as the endangered Golden-cheeked Warbler and the Black-capped Vireo.  \nRich holds a B.S. in Biology from the University of Kansas\, an M.S. in Zoology from North Dakota State University\, and a Ph.D. in Wildlife Science from Texas Tech University. His graduate research focused on applying science to real-world wildlife and natural resource management decisions. Today\, he serves as Director of Science and Stewardship for Hill Country Conservancy. \nA Missouri native who has called Texas home for nearly 25 years\, Rich is also an avid birder\, naturalist\, nature and wildlife photographer\, and native plant gardener. He enjoys exploring and experiencing nature everywhere from his own backyard to destinations across Texas and beyond. \nThis event is free and open to the public. Seating is limited and available on a first-come\, first-seated basis.
