Volunteer Opportunities

DOCENT

Museum greeters are the face of the museum – the first person our visitors meet. Greeter positions are available Wednesday through Saturday, and each shift lasts 2.5 hours. No history background needed – you just have to enjoy meeting people!

COURTHOUSE TOURS

Courthouse guides give tours on Fridays and are occasionally needed for special events. Tours generally last around 45 minutes and cover the early county courthouses, the historic Dan Moody trial and courtroom, and features of the 1911 courthouse.

SPECIAL EVENTS

Assistance is needed for special events to help manage crowds, set-up or break-down the event.

COLLECTIONS

Collections volunteers work with the Curator in behind-the-scenes roles including cataloging artifacts, performing inventories, and assisting with exhibit set-up and take-down. You never know what interesting things you find in those collections!

EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH

Education volunteers assist the Educator with our educational programs including traveling trunks, field trips, and special event days. They can also help the Educator in preparing for events or researching for trunks and programs.

ADMINISTRATIVE

Assist staff members with various administrative tasks such as membership processing, data entry, mailings, and more!

Volunteer Form

If you are unable to volunteer, consider giving to the museum through our membership program.
