Williamson County will be celebrating its 175th Birthday with a special kick-off celebration in March. While the county officially turns 175 on March 13, the county will celebrate its birthday on Friday, March 10, and Saturday, March 11.
On Friday, March 10, Williamson County will kick off the celebration with a formal ceremony on the east side of the historic courthouse on Main Street starting at 2 p.m. The ceremony will be followed by entertainment and end with a special laser light show which starts at approximately 7:30 p.m. Tours of the historic courthouse and birthday cake will be available inside the courthouse during the day. Cake is first come, first serve. Main Street between 7th and 8th streets will be closed all day on Friday for this event.
The fun continues on Saturday with Williamson County participating in Market Days. Williamson County will be adding family-friendly activities to the Downtown Georgetown Association’s event. Activities will include a bouncy house, train rides for children, face painting and a scavenger hunt.
The Greater Round Rock Community Foundation, as the presenting sponsor of the Williamson County 175th Birthday Celebration, along with Williamson County and the Williamson Museum are hosting contests for students to help celebrate the 175th birthday. The contests are open to all students attending a public, private or home school in Williamson County. Students in 11th and 12th grades can enter an essay contest regarding what they hope Williamson County will be like and look like in the next 175 years. Students from 3rd to 10th grades can enter an art contest to design an 8.5″ X 11″ poster for Williamson County to represent the county as it celebrates its 175th birthday.
